Snaking the Drains of Justice!
Robert Strovesco (aka The Plumber) hails from a great superhero lineage. He’s the son of one of the greatest superheroes to have ever shown his face in Toronto – The Electrician – a man who had the power to control electrons themselves – with the proper, certified equipment of course.
Robert was born to Oscar (aka The Electrician) and Lucinda Strovesco (aka Ma). And what a rather unexceptional beginning it was. The labour was long and tedious but the delivery itself was par for the course – except for the surgeon dropping him on the floor three times during the procedure. But this was years ago, when that sort of thing was more acceptable than by today’s politically correct standards.
Despite this rocky start, The Electrician was determined to teach his boy the ropes of superherodom. He turned everything into a test. They took nature hikes up the Appalachians, played catch with an electrified baseball… and then there were the days when The Electrician just had Robert hold exploding objects to test his imperviousness to exploding objects. In almost all the tests, Robert failed miserably – just barely escaping with his life intact each time.
But things forever changed for Robert one day when he was 15 and came home from school to find his father gone. He found a note on his nightstand that says his dad’s gone off to fight in The Obfuscated Wars with his squad the Mega Powers League.Young Robert waited and waited, the whole time holding onto the electrified baseball, convinced this was just another test. But his dad never returned. Then the rumours started. Rumours that The Electrician didn’t vanish along with the rest of his squad, but ran off with fellow super her and famous pin up model, The Showgirl Woman.
As for Robert, his life became more drab. He managed to finish his high school studies and out of school got a job with his Uncle Sal. Uncle Sal ran a plumbing business: Strovesco Plumbing. Robert never fully learned the trade but Sol mainly had him handle the simple, dirty jobs, such as unclogging toilets and walking through sewers to turn various wheels. Oh, you didn’t think there were wheels in the sewer. You’d be very surprised. Robert certainly was.
He made a reasonably steady living and on one job met his future wife, Tanya. He showed her his plumbing snake and the two were married faster than you can say “It’s positive.” And then eight months and ten days later their son, Justin was born.
One day Robert answered a plumbing call at a certain Captain Euchre’s residence and it all went to hell. He was there to deal with a clogged toilet, but the paranoid card carrier believed he was a minion of the evil supervillain The Arc Welder and was taken hostage.
After escaping his unlawful imprisonment, he discovered he had lost his job and his wife and had to move back in with his now-invalid mother (aka Ma). Much of which can be seen in this cleverly edited recap video…
And now Robert Strovesco has decided to stand up for the little guys like him who get taken advantage of by the world by donning the persona of The Plumber – a superhero determined to snake the drains of justice. And he wants to find Captain Euchre so he can get paid for his unconsented kidnapping and then maybe he could get his wife, kid and job back.
