Martyn Krys and Filmlegals Entertainment Law are based in Toronto, Canada with clients across the country.  Martyn has a business degree (with distinction) from the University of Alberta and a law degree from Queens University, Kingston.  After living in London England, and sojourning through South America, Martyn entered the practice of law in 1986.

The late 1980’s and early 1990’s was a time of great growth in Canada’s feature film industry and Martyn quickly became legal counsel to many of Canada’s emerging auteur filmmakers of this period. These filmmakers have now firmly established themselves in the industry and include: Academy nominee Atom Egoyan ( The Sweet Hereafter, Exotica, Where the Truth Lies); Bruce MacDonald (Roadkill, Highway 61, American Whiskey Bar) Guy Maddin (Careful, Twilight of the Ice Nymphs), and Jeremy Podeswa (The Five Senses) amongst many others.
