Associate Producer / Writer
An adept writer because he knows how to drink coffee and alcoholic beverages, and occasionally alcoholic coffee beverages, Adam Swimmer began writing at a young age, but it wasn’t until much later when he figured out how to combine letters into words and then sentences that someone would actually want to read. But as time went on, Adam’s talent grew. He can now tell you, for example, this bio begins with a run-on sentence. But more important than his fondness for extremely long, meandering sentences, Adam developed a taste for comedic writing. He was a writer for the sketch comedy troupes The Pez Family in Ottawa and The Department of Redundancy Department in Toronto.
He also wrote a few short films including The Adventures of Steve, the Boxing Ninja, Method Porn and Jake Moxie – the last of which was part of a pilot for a series he created with Scott Albert that not a single network showed any interest in. Along with writer/performer Scott Watkins Adam writes, produces and voices the title character in the advice web series Ask Dr. Newt. It has some mixed reviews but Adam is convinced it’s funny. And he should know because he has a degree in film from York University. Adam also has a post-graduate certificate in journalism from Centennial College and currently works as the National Associate Online Editor for Sun Media – which doesn’t help with his comedy writing per se, but it does give him a legitimate excuse to look at the SUNshine Girl every day.
